Season: Spring

There is something intriguing about floral installations that gracefully weave their way up mantles and walls. I’m always left wondering how the floral designers do it? It’s these impressive eye-catching features that gets me excited for what comes next and this spring styled wedding shoot is one of them. Dripping in modern and elegant details with ethereal touches throughout, you’ll find so much to adore among the pretty styling aesthetic that somehow creates an open feel in this indoor shoot.
Ashley of Maverick Event Planning co-ordinated this extraordinary piece of work. Her vision was centred around finding a hot new (never seen before) venue in Ottawa, Canada. It was the perfect space to create in, drawing from her inspiration of dark tones and leather. This styled wedding shoot breathes a moody and raw vibe that the photography brings over effortlessly.
Ashley says “This is Maverick’s very first creative collaboration and I couldn’t have picked a better team to work with. Finding a space in Ottawa that hadn’t already been shot was hard, but once I heard that Umbrella was to be Ottawa’s new bar and event space, it was meant to be.” Umbrella bar and restaurant (a sister venue to Lago), combines indoor and outdoor spaces with stunning views of Dow’s Lake being a versatile option for wedding photos or a pre-reception shoot.
Drawing in a mix of vendors she’s worked with previously and new vendor referrals, her collaboration with these creatives turned out to be a dream. Each pitched in and supported one another from dress adjustments to hair and wardrobe changes. Now that’s something you want from a wedding vendor! The photographs display how well everything gelled bringing a cohesive feel from styling on the day through to shooting. Ashley said, “These are some of Ottawa’s best talents creating beauty in the capital.” And how can we argue with that?!
In the first look, the bride wore ‘Rebecca’ – a sheer wedding dress with delicate embellishments by leading Israeli bridal designer Liz Martinez from her 2018 collection. We love how ethereal and sensual this look is, complimented by the brides hair & makeup that accentuate her natural beauty. The second look features the bride in ‘Serrano’ by British designer Suzanne Neville. It feels elegant yet modern with an open back and full skirt. Both bridal gowns showcase how the contrasting bridal dress styles complement the overall theme.
Which leads us to mention the immaculately styled table full of pretty details. From the crystal glassware, menu cards and gold candlestick holders set on the raw timber table to the earthy terracotta base colour palette paired with soft apricots and blushes. We can’t get enough of these soft tones! Ashley has pulled this shoot together beautifully. So, who better to ask about sharing some advice to brides and vendors on planning and collaborating?WE LOVE
Well…can we pick everything?! The on-trend mantle floral installation, terracotta colour palette infused through the table styling, the Rebecca wedding dress by Liz Martinez and the modern wedding cake all complement each other so beautifully.
