Located in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, you’ll find Imagine Bridal Lounge; a new intimate bridal store offering bridal gowns by Australian and New Zealand designers, giving brides-to-be a new wedding dress destination to put on their shopping list.

This young family run business is owned by friendly Lizzi (a mum of two under two with her behind-the-scenes husband Josh) and their vibrant assistant Sophie.

Walking into the main room of their College Park store, you instantly feel at home. We met the team at their rebrand event in October and their intimate space has a new focus on modern designer luxury gowns after being transformed from its former days known as The Vintage Bride.

What sets Imagine Bridal Lounge apart from other stores is how the team are completely dedicated to providing a personalised and fun bridal experience with amazing service and lots of laughs.

Lizzi said: “Wedding dress shopping is such an exciting time in a woman's wedding journey. I really wanted to create a space where brides-to-be can feel like a VIP, be themselves and have a positive bridal experience. We are by appointment only allocating a full hour and a half for every booking so future brides and their tribe can feel relaxed, enjoy a glass of bubbly and have the opportunity to try on the dresses she desires.”

After Lizzi’s own disappointing experience buying her bridal gown, she knew she could do something powerful for her brides and said: “The best part of my job is being able to serve my customers knowing I’m helping them find their dream dress – I’ve learnt from my own experience just how important that first interaction and fitting is.”

WE LOVE: That all of their new designer wedding dresses are designed and or made in Australia and New Zealand ranging from $2,200 to $5,500. Lizzi works with a collection of designers to ensure they are the right fit for her brand where they go over and above to make custom changes for her brides.

The Dresses: We guarantee you’ll walk away wanting one – just as I did! You’ll find designer wedding dresses by Erin Clare Bridal, Oui the Label, Cherie by Oui The Label, Boho Bridal Design, Daisy Brides by Katie Yeung, Augusta Jones and Luna Willow Bridal among other champion designers.

Each of the gowns have an elegant recurring theme that blends into bohemian glamour, romantic luxury and modern 3d designs where each dress becomes its own storytelling piece.

If it’s a vintage dress you’re after, they also stock a selection of original vintage wedding dresses for brides who are after that aesthetic.

To share in the spirit of their bridal personality, local editorial and couture bridal photographer Nicole Fang teamed up with Imagine Bridal Lounge and Azalea Models to showcase that style during a local photoshoot at Henley Beach.

Nicole said: “We dedicated this shoot to all the brides affected by COVID-19 this year. We had fun on location bringing some light to the year that’s been so hard for many couples.”  

To learn more about Imagine Bridal Lounge, we chatted with Lizzi and share our Q & A below:

Q: Who is your ideal bridal customer?
A: She’s someone fun and unique with a great personality. She would be looking for something modern, beautiful, different and comfortable. I love customers who can come in and have a good experience, it makes it a more laid back and personal.

Q: What services do you offer?
A: We sell designer wedding gowns, shoes and accessories. We have two rooms; the wedding gowns in our front room are made to size gowns and the back room is filled with off the rack ex-sample gowns as well as original vintage gowns.

Q: What can a bride-to-be expect when visiting your bridal lounge?
A: She can expect to be looked after completely! We aim to give a VIP experience to every woman who walks through the door. Within our intimate store, she has a relaxed space to try on gowns within her 1.5 hour appointment window which leaves time for champagne, laughs and some fun!

Q: How can brides-to-be book a ‘try on fitting’ during COVID?
A: We organise bookings through the website, phone number or Facebook and Instagram DM’s. A bride-to-be can get in touch with us through any of these methods and we’ll organise a time for them to come in. Currently, we allow the bride plus five guests. But our shop best allows for three guests as they can sit comfortably.

Q: Why did you choose these particular dresses for the shoot?
A: The gowns that we picked for the shoot represent who we are as a brand. They’re fun and different. All the gowns we stock are designed and made in Australia or New Zealand and use quality fabrics. I felt that the gowns really outlined what we stand for and showcased the easy, laid back nature of the gowns that we sell.

Q: What do you hope to achieve from this shoot?
I was so happy with the turnout of the shoot. I felt that it captured the fun and vibrant vibe of the brand perfectly. The colours and creativity involved, with the hair, makeup and styling - it was something unique and the photos will be so valuable to us in showcasing our brand.
