Wedding Style: Modern and Romantic
Theme: Citrus and Colourful
Season: Summer
Submitted by: The Shoot Out Society

When the skyline of downtown Los Angeles twinkles at dusk and the bride rocks not one, but two contrasting wedding outfits you know you’re in for a treat! Styled with romantic features throughout, this rooftop summer wedding shoot will leave you feeling fresh and inspired and ready to make your wedding day your own.

Photographed by Missouri wedding photographer Miranda Boland who describes her photography style as candid and colourful, we love how her images feel invigorating and fresh complemented by the summer citrus theme.

WORDS FROM THE HOST: "My vision for this shootout was to create something modern and chic that incorporated a pop of color since it is summertime. We played with the sleek lines of the studio space and downtown skyline to create a fresh look that incorporated color and a soft playful vibe.”

In her first look, the bride wears a traditional and elegant A-line BHLDN gown with a low neckline and cathedral train. But for those brides who’d love to wear an alternative wedding outfit, she rocks a modern white BHLDN jumpsuit which is equally flattering – and doesn’t it look so good!

The table styling incorporates natural elements like an exposed timber tabletop, gold cutlery and natural linen while the chairs and gold arbour give it that modern edge.

WE LOVE: How the wedding stationery uses two main colours, including a mint green invitation with a contrasting citrus orange response card. These tie in beautifully with the use of bold font. The white jumpsuit is a real delight and the overall styling from flowers to arbour and table is divine.

Creative Director Brianna Broyles says: “We chose this particular color scheme because the pinks, oranges, and yellows were soft colors all within the same spectrum. By incorporating some of the citrus elements we were able to craft a cohesive look and then chose to add the mint and turquoise ceremony backdrop to create contrast."

Her unstructured bouquet by Cultivated By Faith incorporates a selection of peach and pink florals including ranunculus and greenery which feels soft and sweet. The same flowers are carried through to the table styling where mint and citrus coloured candles complete the setting and offers a thoughtful alternative to the traditional white candle.

ADVICE FROM MIRANDA BOLAND: “Shooting a rooftop wedding has been a highlight! For any photographers just starting out, get out there and create. Invest in styled shoots and education because that is an investment in yourself. The more you’re shooting behind the camera, the more you are learning. Know your worth and stay true to yourself.”
