We met online in early 2007, and after a couple of emails we made a date at The Archer Hotel in North Adelaide. By sheer coincidence, we chose a Wednesday to meet and that day ended up being Valentines Day - no pressure! I still remember walking past the window of the pub and seeing Matt sitting there and thinking WOW. We got along so well and have had 9 wonderful years together.
We returned from Europe, and family and friends were anticipating that Matt would propose while we were over there. I thought he may have, so was a bit disappointed when we came home and I had no ring on my finger. But Matt had other plans! Matt didn't want to do what everyone was expecting, so as we had some extra money left from our holiday he suggested we go hot air ballooning in the Barossa as something different to do. Little did I know, he had bought the ring before we went to Europe and had planned to propose after we came home. So we went hot air ballooning on a beautiful crisp morning, and once we had landed he proposed! Another couple who were in the hot air balloon too said they saw Matt "fumbling" around in his pocket so thought he was going to propose, and they started taking photos. We now have so many photos that captured that beautiful moment! It was such an amazing surprise, and a day I will always remember so well.
We were married at Carrick Hill, Springfield SA on a gorgeous Spring afternoon. Our wedding day was perfect for us, all that we could wish for and we wouldn't have changed a thing. The weather was beautiful and we had all our loved ones there to celebrate with us. We wanted our wedding to reflect both of us, relaxed and a great afternoon for everyone to enjoy. Our reception was at The Grange Hotel, with stunning views over the ocean.
The best memory is our vows to each other, as we wrote our own. For our first wedding anniversary, Matt even wrote his out on paper and framed it (talk about a SNAG!)
