The Wedding Day

The Love Pact! We were absolutely blown away by this couple’s very unique celebration - The Love Pact! Julia and Leo wanted to wed differently - very differently. What we witnessed that day was something that made our hearts sing. An event unmatched to other couples - it was not about how expensive the wedding gown or ring was, the type of car they drove, or how many guests attended. Instead it was all about their love. Since they were celebrating in Australia without their families (who were overseas), they wanted the event to suit them, their values and their love. Leo was not phased by the general formal wedding procedure that usually takes place. So, together the couple found a way to dignify their union: a ceremony in nature with shamanic influences. The energy and spirit throughout this fantastic celebration captivated us from the first second and carried us off into a different world – a world where no technology is needed, time is endless, and peace and love are leading. The day started off as a cold and foggy winter morning in Melbourne. The event was set on a private property located in Bend of Islands, Yarra Valley which felt like the middle of nowhere. The couple got ready in Sh'ana and Kurt’s warm house before going outdoors, walking through the bush down to the Yarra River. Right at the bend of the river, Leo had prepared a circle of flowers for the ceremony, while Julia had prepared beautifully decorated cup cakes. Julia and Leo decided to wed without guests - with ourselves and the celebrants as their only witnesses. The ceremony was focused on the relationship between these two loving people and celebrated their connection in the world of nature. The sound of the river created a true sense of being among untouched nature. We walked on our tiptoes on the soil covered with moss, leaves and branches, trying not to interrupt this intriguing ritual with any noise. The ceremony commenced with a cleansing using smoke, after which both stepped into their circle, their space. There, they said their vows to each other and received blessings for their union. Followed by a little tea ceremony, Kurt declared them as husband and wife. What a beautiful way to celebrate each others connection! After this incredible experience we had a little portrait session. Julia and Leo remained at the river a little longer to embrace the joy of their commitment before they headed off on a mini honeymoon to a secret destination. We feel blessed and grateful for being able to capture this unique ceremony for the couple.
